This Is How We Homeless - Service

Chapter 1: The Guts and the Glory

Section A: The Guts Continued - Service

(Posted to my social media on Saturday, April 5, 2025)

Welcome and welcome back ! It's another amazing day in paradise . Thank you for being here.

I'm so excited to share the recognition I received from Shaw University Divinity School (SUDS) last night (Friday, April 4). To be completely honest with you, I was so shocked and completely honored to see the title "Outstanding Engagement" because I didn't know what the certificate would say. I don't do things for recognition. I do things to bring change and provide support where I see it's needed.

Service is my Love language. It is one of the ways I am able to keep my nervous system regulated. And it really does take guts to show up in service to others when you need so much. One reason why I do it is I feel it's a small way to pay forward all the blessings Wisdom and I receive from God through others. This is how we homeless!

In closing, I want to spotlight my personal photographer and young Black male superhero, Wisdom Son-shine   . He did an awesome job taking the pictures.

And I also REALLY want to thank Dr. Telika McCoy, Professor of Practical Ministry and Director of Nurturing Children and Youth for The Future (NCYF) at SUDS for feeling I'm worthy of such high regard.

On top of that, when pictures were being taken and the adults were about to walk away, Dr. McCoy made everyone stop in their tracks when she asked out loud, "Wisdom, are you done taking pictures?" There was a pause and quiet as Wisdom considered his work. He finally said, "yes" with his natural air of confidence, everyone chuckled a little bit and movement resumed.

That's Dr. McCoy! She is divinely appointed to be the director of NCYF because she lives it. It is such a sweet memory to me. And I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue working with her in the future.

To effectively nurture children and youth, their parents are an essential key to their success. That's my part. So I see a long and beautiful relationship ahead of us. I really don't want or need more awards. The true reward will be the changes we see in our community and in the lives of those we serve. I'm so excited when I think about all the goodness and beauty the future holds.

Thank you again for being here. Thank you in advance for celebrating with me. Continued success . Enjoy the amazing day you're creating . ...
