This Is How We Homeless - Panhandling

Chapter 1: The Guts and the Glory

Section A: The Guts Continued - Panhandling

Welcome and welcome back 👋🏾! It's another amazing day in paradise 🤩. Thank you for being here. Today I want to delve into the topic of panhandling.

Yes, Wisdom and I panhandle. I need to say, panhandling is NOT a sign of laziness. It could be a sign of deep desperation, incredible courage and/or unwavering faith. Personally, I hate doing it. So for me, it's a sign of my determination to lead the changes our world needs. Because our needs being met and/or exceeded is a measurement of how compassionate our community is.

This video is from the last time we panhandled. I personally call what we do elevated panhandling because we have several signs plus bubbles and stuff to give away. I even have a "commercial" I created playing out of a Bluetooth speaker with a megaphone in front of it to amplify the sound.

(Continue here ⭐) Yes, I'm serious. You can't see it in the video because I did not have it set up yet. And because I used my phone to play the commercial and record the video.

We had stopped for awhile but God recently gave me some direction/invited me to set up Downtown. There was a specific location and I'll be honest, it freaked me out even though it was exactly what I wanted. Crazy right?

For me, this opportunity/challenge isn't just about money. I want to develop the courage to talk to people. It's one thing to hold a sign and let people figure out the story they want to tell themselves about you to accept or reject you. It's a whole other thing to invite people into conversation about who I am and what I'm doing to accept or reject me to my face.

One thing I realized is I'm not good at talking to people. Everyone I've spoken to approached me. A few people have given money too. And a couple have asked me questions or asked for information. But I know I've missed out on opportunities to initiate the asking or provide more information.

I'm still freaked out about it but we will be back out there over the weekend because I'm in a period of refinement. This is preparing me for what is coming. So I've got to get us settled and panhandling is the quickest way.

I'm going to drop our wishlist here just in case anyone is compelled to help. This is what we're panhandling for. Cash, gift cards, hotel or credit card points are all options to be used towards:

*Temporary housing in one location for 3-4 weeks: Airbnb is preferred
*Wisdom's Robotics Course: he finished his first level and the next one needs to be paid for plus there are a 2 other courses he is interested in that are supplementary to the main course
*Car repairs
*Gas
*Laundry
*Storage units
*Summer clothes for Wis

Once Wisdom and I are settled that will set the ball rolling to put Raleigh, North Carolina on the map as being the most compassionate city in America. And we will set the standard for how other cities will operate. I promise you this!

Thank you again and in advance. Enjoy the amazing day you're creating 🪄✨. ☮️...
