This is How We Homeless: Intro

The Chronicles of The Emancipated Momma

Book 1: This is How We Homeless

Introduction

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here.

(Please Note: I'm catching up. This was originally posted to my social media two days ago, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.)

This is the start of a series God has been pressing me to start. But I've been hesitant because one of two things will happen. Either people will LOVE it and they will eventually flock by the thousands to like and share or they will ignore it. Both are terrifying to me

But what's more terrifying to me is what I will miss in my relationship with God if I don't trust the reason for Him guiding me to do this. To get started out, there be a pic post with a description. So... here we go!

I want to take a moment to talk about being The Emancipated Momma. Most people know the word emancipate because of the Emancipation Proclamation, the document that freed the slaves, but for me it's so much more than that.

By definition, emancipate has two meanings. One has to do with being freed from bondage and the other has to do with the legal separation between a parent and their child. For my use, I combined the meanings. So I say to be emancipated means I'm free from the ways my brain developed and my nervous system was regulated during my formative years.

This means I try to respond versus react.

This means I seek experiences that help regulate my nervous system so I'm not making decisions out of my flight or fight.

This means I'm seeking peace over war.

This is the most important endeavor for me and Wisdom, especially considering our current lifestyle.

This picture shows us during the intermission of the Carolina Ballet (CB). Yes, we were there on Saturday night in T-shirts and jogging pants because those were the only clean clothes we had. We got the tickets from one of the dancers we randomly met on the corner of Hargett and Harrington Streets earlier that day.

For context, we've seen every CB performance since Cinderella last year, for free! We were going to miss this one because we couldn't afford the tickets, even with the discount that was available so that dancer's kindness was a priceless gift since the show was sold out!

Going to the ballet is one way we have downtime, experience connection with one another and are able to regulate our nervous systems. This is how we homeless.

If you found any value in this post or learned something new, please feel free to comment if you'd like to share. Thanks again and in advance. Enjoy the amazing day you're creating 🪄✨. ☮️...
