Momma's Monday: A Revolutionary Act of Love

A Revolutionary Act of Love Welcome and welcome back. Today is Monday, February 12, 2024 (2.12.24). Happy Monday. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here.  Do you know we are only ONE day away from (what I feel is) the most underrated nationally recognized holiday there is? It is a day I wait for with epic anticipation and this year I'm finally doing something to officially celebrate it. I hope you'll join me. The holiday I'm talking about is Black Love Day! It's celebrated on February 13. Have you heard of it?  Congrats if you have.  That's OK if you haven't. I'm here to change that.  I'm going to give you a little history but you can also click on Black Love Day  to be taken to the website that tells you all about it by the person responsible for creating it, Mama Ayo Handy-Kendi , the Breath Sekou. Black Love Day   Black Love Day has been around for 31 years, officially commencing in 1993. From the African American H

Do You Know Momma Kai? The Addendum (Becoming Black History) Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. It's an honor to have you invest your time with me. Happy Black History Month to you! Happy Becoming Black History Month... Year to me! Whoot! WHOOT! I'm so excited.  Can I just tell you... January was something else? And you want to know what my biggest lesson was? God's got me!  I have to put that out there. If I just hold on and regulate my nervous system, things are going to work out!!!  I had to say it.  I talked about being neuroscience centered in my last post. I'm telling you, it works. It really works. I'm so proud of me for the times I did.  For the many times I failed, I'm grateful for repair. I took a lot of deep breaths during the month of January but I still lost it too. I'm not perfect.  I also did a lot of authentic, thoughtful expressing of remorse for my behavior, not just a flipp

Do You Know Momma Kai? Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. If this is your first time, please know how much I appreciate you being here. If you've been here before, thank you again for trusting there is something here worth your time. Can I start out with being vulnerable? It's been a doozie of a year already. I don't throw the year away though. I'm inspired that with so many challenges to begin with, I'm being refined for greater things. I like the way Take 6 sings it when they say, "the race is not given to the swift or the strong but the one who endures to the end". It's based on Ecclesiastes 9:11. Some days have definitely felt like I was just enduring, trying to make it to the end of the day to sleep it off and try again the next. But, honestly, most days I've been more than enduring. Even though it's been a trying and tiring time, I wouldn't change it if I could. I woul

Momma's Monday: Moving To Peace From War in 2024

Moving To Peace From War in 2024 Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Happy New Year! Thank you for being here whether it's from a handout, text message or email. And Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! It's the perfect day and time to talk about the headline of this post.  As you might already know, the subject line is my theme for the year, Moving To Peace From War in 2024 . It is also the name of the course I am launching. It is the next step in the work I'm doing to eliminate homelessness, internally and externally. There was a thought that plagued my mind during the whole month of December that led me to this aspect of my journey. I didn't know the exact quote but I did know where to find it, in a book called The Peacegiver by James Farrell. This quote is the opening paragraph of the Preface. And it's the only thing I remembered about the contents of the book. Mr. Farrell  wrote:  "We live in a world at war. I am not only refe
