Being Tenaciously Hopeful in the Midst of Great Instability

Image
You're probably here because you received a card from me or my son or perhaps someone passed it on to you. THANK YOU for being willing to find out a little more about us.  In case you saw my sign but didn't get to read the whole thing, this is what it says: "If one advances confidently in the direction of [their] dreams, and endeavors to live the life [they have] imagined [they] will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."  -Henry David Thoreau Here's the one my son had:  My name is Kara Lynn Sanders. Most people know me as Kai. My son's name is "Wisdom, Wisdom Chance" as he is often known to say.  A little about "being tenaciously hopeful in the midst of great instability"... the quote says it all! Our housing situation is unstable much like many others. BUT... even in the midst of our trial, we pressing forward to achieve our mission: to change the world for good, starting with addressing the causes and c...

The Impact of Gratitude

Image
I received an email from the Small Business Center at Wake Tech a couple of days ago. I was intrigued by the subject line as it started with "Thankfulness" and it's not November.  Well lo and behold I scroll down and these are the opening paragraphs:  January 2020 Happy New Year As we jump into January and what promises to be an eventful and interesting year, what are your business goals for this year? Share them on our Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/waketechsmallbusinesscenter.edu ). Personally I decided to start a thankful journal for our family. At dinner time we each share what we are thankful for - big or small. Did you know that practicing thankfulness helps your overall mindset? And speaking of mindsets, did you know entrepreneurs are known for their mindset?  (emphasis added) Enough said!  Thanks Cherith! I could not agree with you more.  Not that I know her or anything like that but she made the exact point I've been...

Happy New Year!

I had a very eye-opening conversation the other day with a very good friend (talk about getting 20/20 vision). She had really taken the time to read through the entries on this blog and ask some very thought-provoking questions. I appreciated that.  One of the things she helped me to realize is that this blog is more personal than professional (she didn't point that out). Even though the content is about my businesses, it is not always in a reader friendly format. I apologize if that has caused you frustration or confusion as you've attempted to read.  I'm learning my process is to write down what is in my head as it comes to me. This blog has given me a place to present it so I can get it out of me. This allows more information to come. And it has! It really has! So... I'm excited.  I gave birth to triplets on my son's 4th birthday, Monday, December 23, 2019. Their names are "L.U.V. Enterprises", "The L.U.V. L.I.F.E. Cooperative" and PAID ...

Bringing Dignity to Poverty

Image
I was up early this morning thinking... I knew I had done just about everything I felt I should do. I have to admit I've been slacking a little bit. And that had me wondering, "have I really done enough?"  And the answer came... "No!" It was a gentle rebuke but a rebuke none-the-less. My focus had become cloudy. When you're in the midst of struggles, your struggles are often all you can focus on. But God had already let me know that my struggles were actually distractions that didn't deserve the attention I was trying to give them. You see the invitation to be one of God's "research assistants" meant I would go through some rigorous challenges but they would lead me to inviting hearts and minds to be educated and then changed. And the topic that needs the most education is poverty. More specifically, people in poverty and how they are regularly treated.  My knowledge of this is firsthand as I've been shocked by how people have tre...

Soft Launch: Gratitude Journal Download NOW Available!

Image
Today is Friday, December 27, 2019.  I am officially open for business.  All three business entities are registered with the state of North Carolina as a sole proprietor.  I have a product.  This is a soft launch though because I am still learning the intricate details of an online business. There is a lot of information to process. Right now, what I do know is... I'm looking to change the world and make it better for myself and others around me. An essential aspect of being able to create that change is being able to think BIG, visualize my dreams coming to pass and then working wisely to make them come to fruition.  It also involves creating a mindset to achieve it if I didn't already have it. The most valuable way I have been able to create the mindset I need to invite the life I want is by writing in my gratitude journal.  I first heard of this concept, many years ago, in a book called Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Honestly, I...
